When We Return...

It's almost Winter Break here at Denison, so we're taking a break ourselves. When we return however, there's going to be a big Auditions Week extravaganza. New this year is our three-night Freshman Dorm Tour, which will be Jan. 20-22 where we'll be doing shows at freshman dorms on each quad. We'll also be doing our regular table in Slayter throughout the week to answer any auditions questions. Then comes the big weekend itself, with the first day on Jan. 24 taking place in Barney-Davis (Time TBA). Call backs will take place on Jan. 25 in the Burke Black Box (Time TBA). If you have any questions regarding Auditions, email Michael at warsha_m@denison.edu. In the meantime, have a safe and relaxing break!

Burpee's Study Break!

We've added an Auditions Info page where all of the most up to date information on Auditions can be found. This year's auditions are set for Jan. 24-25, 2009. Locations and times will be announced later, so check back for more information as it becomes available.

24 Hours of Improv 2008!

Burpee's annual 24 Hours of Improv show will be this Saturday, November 8, in the Welsh Hills room in Burton Morgan. The show begins at exactly midnight on Saturday morning and will conclude when the clock strikes midnight on Sunday. Burpee's appreciates the support of its fans and this Saturday, we'll need a lot of it! Want a show poster of your very own to hang up? Grab one below!

Burpee's + Comedy Sportz

Burpee's will be opening for Comedy Sportz on Mon. Nov. 10 at 9PM in the Roost. Comedy Sportz is coming as part of the festivities for Denison's D-Day. Among the troupe are two Denison alums, so be sure to come and check it out!

This Saturday, Burpee's will take the stage in Slayter Auditorium for their 2008 Homecoming Show. The show starts at 2PM, though as always, be sure to get there early for a good seat. Burpee's will be celebrating 30 years of hilarious improv this April with an alumni reunion. The reunion is tentatively scheduled for April 17-19 (Dates subject to change). About Burpee's

Burpee's Seedy Theatrical Company is an improvisational comedy troupe at Denison University in Granville, Oh. Founded in 1980 as an outgrowth of a theatre class taught by Denison professor Kevin Hoggard, Burpee's is the nation's oldest collegiate improv group. As of fall 2008, Burpee's has seen 140 Denison students fill its ranks, most notably Golden Globe winning actor Steve Carell. Using audience inputs to create hilarious scenes, Burpee's shows are a huge hit both on and off campus.

Auditions Information

Auditions for Burpee's Seedy Theatrical Co. are held every year during the first weekend back from Winter Break. Auditions are for Denison Freshman and Transfer Sophomores only. No previous improv or theatre experience is required. Most Burpee's major in something other than Theatre, so experience is not an issue when auditioning. There is no quota or set number for who gets into Burpee's. Audition Classes have ranged from two to seven people in the past. Because Auditions are a one time shot that happen only once a year, only people that attend Auditions are eligible for the group.
